New Exchange Opportunity for Students to Study in the U.S.

Exchange program FLEX for the first time offers an opportunity for Lithuanian secondary school students to go study to the United States. As many as ten students from Lithuania, aged 15 to 17, will be able to travel to the U.S., study in an American high school for one academic year and live with a host family. This exchange will be fully funded for them.

Students in the 9th grade of secondary school or 1st class of gymnasium can apply to the program until October 16.

“Participants of this exchange program have the opportunity to learn about the people and culture of the United States, and are also young ambassadors who teach Americans about the people and cultures of their home countries,” FLEX program administrator in Lithuania Kevin Reiling says.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and now in its 23rd year, the FLEX program has provided scholarships to more than 24,000 secondary school students from Europe and Central Asia. Secondary school students with disabilities are invited to participate in the competition, and approximately 20 become finalists each year.

Students willing to apply this year should be Lithuanian citizens, eligible to receive a U.S. visa, have no prior experience in the U.S. and be able to speak English.
