Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, invited representatives of political groups of the Seimas to announce the establishment of political groups and appointment of representatives to the Conference of Chairs.
Ramūnas Karbauskis, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Union Political Group. Mr Karbauskis was elected as Chair of the Political Group. Greta Kildišienė and Aušrinė Norkienė, Members of the Seimas, were elected as Deputy Chairs.
Irena Šiaulienė, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party Political Group. Mrs Šiaulienė was elected as Chair of the Political Group. Parliamentarians Juozas Olekas and Valentinas Bukauskas were elected as Deputy Chairs.
Gabrielius Landsbergis, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrat Political Group. Mr Landsbergis was elected as Chair of the Political Group. Irena Degutienė, Jurgis Razma, Agnė Bilotaitė, and Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, Members of the Seimas, were elected as Deputy Chairs. Moreover, the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrat Political Group declared itself to be a political opposition group.
Aušrinė Armonaitė, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Liberals Movement Political Group. Eugenijus Gentvilas, Member of the Seimas, was elected as Chair of the Political Group, whereas Gintaras Steponavičius, Member of the Seimas, was elected as Deputy Chair of the Political Group. This political group also positioned itself to be in the opposition.
Rita Tamašunienė, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance Political Group. Mrs Tamašunienė was elected as Chair of the Political Group. Vanda Kravčionok, Member of the Seimas, was elected as Deputy Chair. The political group also declared that it did not belong to the ruling coalition.
Remigijus Žemaitaitis, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Order and Justice Political Group. Mr Žemaitaitis was elected as Chair of the Political Group. Parliamentarians Kęstutis Bartkevičius and Rimas Andrikis were elected as Deputy Chairs of the Political Group. The political group also opted to be in the opposition.
Linas Balsys, Member of the Seimas, made a statement on the establishment of the Mixed Group of Members of the Seimas. Mr Balsys was elected as Chair of the Political Group. Aušra Maldeikienė, Member of the Seimas, became the Deputy Chair of the Political Group.
Ramūnas Karbauskis, Member of the Seimas, issued a declaration on the establishment of the ruling coalition, formed of 78 Members of the Seimas, belonging to the Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Union Political Group and the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party Political Group.
