Prime Minister: Lithuania and Slovenia have to continue partnership for the security and welfare of the EU citizens

Today Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has hosted an official lunch in honour of President of Slovenia Borut Pahor. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, which has recently been started to be used to welcome foreign delegations and for other representative purposes, and discussed the importance of cooperation between the two countries.

“Slovenia is an important partner of Lithuania in the European Union and NATO. Both countries have been developing friendly bilateral relations and strong partnership for more than 25 years now. Lithuania and Slovenia are small yet ambitious countries seeing the benefit of the European integration, hence we have to continue our partnership for the security and welfare of our citizens as well as those of the entire EU”, said Head of Government Skvernelis.

The Prime Minister has noted that Slovenia is the largest trading partner of Lithuania in the Western Balkans Region. According to the Prime Minister, the Lithuanian and Slovenian economies are similar in their size and potential, which creates good conditions for the beneficial mutual cooperation.

The meeting has also discussed other political, economic and social topicalities in both countries.
